As a guest of The Rotary 100. Years, Anatolian High School in İstinye, the Mayor of Lithuania Valdas Aleknavicius and delegation consisting of Mariampole Kalvarios Gymnasia High School teachers and students visited Sarıyer Mayor Sükrü Genç.

As a guest of The Rotary 100. Years, Anatolian High School in İstinye, the Mayor of Lithuania Valdas Aleknavicius and delegation consisting of Mariampole Kalvarios Gymnasia High School teachers and students visited Sarıyer Mayor Sükrü Genç.
The efforts of Mayor Şükrü Genç and his colleagues who aims to make Sarıyer a name in the international arena as a world-class brand, continues to bear fruit. Earlier by signing 'Sister City' protocol with Enfield (UK), Aachen (Germany) and Vac (Hungary) Municipalities, Sariyer Municipality announced her name to Europe, and now statrted a new project.
 
Valdas Aleknavicius, Kalvarios Mayor, Member of Kalvarios Municipality Parliament Edmantas Rekus, Mariampole Kalvarios Gymnasia High School teachers, the Vice Mayor of Seçkin Özdemir, Rotary 100. Year Anatolian High School Manager Hayati Sarıcıoğlu, teachers and students of both schools two 8-person group come together and in the first speech, Mayor Sükrü Genç primarily said 'Welcome,' because of the Lithuanian delegation visits. Genç started his speech by giving a brief overview about Sarıyer,

“Sarıyer, hosting Turkey's one of the most important universities within the boundaries of the district, makes us very happy because of the cooperation and joint projects between schools. Although you are living in Lithuania, we are also living in Turkey, we carry on our responsibility for the future of our planet and must give it to future generations in the best way" he said.

Mayor Genç: "We aim to come together with young people"

Mayor underlined that first steps were taken to be the 'Sister City' between Sarıyer and Kalvarios in this important visit. Sükrü Genç stressed that especially young people's bringing together is significant. Genç highlights we need to develop such relations.

At the meeting, the students of both schools shared a common strategy; to understand each other, to ensure the development of foreign languages, cultures and histories to sign new projects.

Aleknavicius, "we will be happy to be the sister with Sarıyer Municipality"
Valdas Aleknavicius, Kalvarios Mayor, said that they are very happy to come to Sarıyer and personally meet people in Turkey, "a few days experience showed us something that we do not know much about Turkey. Valdas Aleknavicius said that “I would like to remind you that, at the time we were neighbors at one time. I hope that bilateral relations between the two schools can leead deep relation and associations between countries and municipalities”. He added that there would be a number of European Union programs for the municipalities and they would be happy taking part in a program, a joint project with the City of Sarıyer.

End of the meeting, mutual gifts were given. The important visit ended up after taking photo together.
